Häfele launches in Ukraine

33rd foreign subsidiary

(20/07/2009) Hardware and electronic locking system specialist Häfele GmbH & Co KG based in Nagold has opened its 33rd foreign subsidiary, this time in the Ukraine. Häfele Ukraine TOV launched its operations on June 1st with a staff of 11. The new subsidiary is located in the West Ukrainian metropolis of Lviv.

With a population of 735,000, Lviv is a centre of the furniture industry, and will earn a memorable place on the map in 2012 when it hosts the European Football Championships.
Although the market in the former Soviet Republic has evolved extremely well over recent years, it has been particularly hard hit by the recession. International Business Director Stefan Huber commented on the company’s decision to go ahead with this step in the current economic climate: “We decided to stick with our plans to form a new subsidiary as a statement to our customers and to the marketplace. We are also keen to promote continuity and demonstrate our
optimism for the future”.
The Ukrainian market opens up the purchasing power of a 47 million-strong population, particularly in the property improvement and building sector. Häfele is already able to show off two top-ranking reference projects completed in the capital city of Kiev:
the “Hyatt Hotel” and the “Grand-Prix Wellness
Center”.
